PTM Consultants were the lead designers for the Crosstown Bus Route changes, a project that re-shaped how people move across Auckland. The goal was clear: make public transport more reliable, more connected, and easier to use for the growing communities between east and west.
As lead designers, PTM brought together traffic engineering expertise, safety assessments, and corridor planning to deliver solutions that work in practice and reflect Auckland Transport's Future Connect Plan. Our team led the design of new bus priority measures, stop upgrades, and intersection improvements, ensuring the routes could carry more people efficiently while still being safe and accessible for all road users.
Collaboration was central to this project. We worked closely with Auckland Transport, bus operators, and local communities to balance operational needs with neighbourhood character, embedding changes that support long-term mode shift while minimising disruption.
For PTM, the Crosstown Bus Route changes demonstrate our ability to lead complex, city-wide transport projects — where design detail meets strategic vision, and where every decision helps create a more connected and sustainable Auckland.
