High Risk Intersections

Project Overview

PTM Consultants completed investigations and scheme designs for eight high-risk intersections across Auckland, working alongside Auckland Transport to improve safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Each site presented unique challenges, from poor visibility and complex layouts to school traffic and high-speed rural approaches.

Our team delivered a full range of services, including:

• Site investigations and surveys – collecting traffic, pedestrian, and topographical data to understand real-world risks.
• Technical analysis – assessing visibility, tracking, and approach geometry to identify practical safety solutions.
• Concept and scheme design – preparing and refining design options tailored to each location.
• Consultation and review support – providing plans and responses for internal and external feedback processes.
• Cost and constructability input – supplying engineers' estimates and ensuring designs were realistic and ready for the next stage.
