PTM Consultants were proud to be the lead transport engineers for the upgrade of Mills Lane and Swanson Street, two important laneways in Auckland's city centre. This project set out to create a safer, more welcoming environment that better serves the thousands of people who use these routes every day.
Working in alignment with Auckland's City Centre Masterplan and in partnership with mana whenua, our design introduced a series of people-focused improvements: shared-space treatments, raised pedestrian crossings, wider footpaths, and enhanced lighting and greenery. Together, these changes calm traffic, improve accessibility, and make the laneways more intuitive and inviting.
For PTM, this project highlights our ability to deliver complex urban upgrades that balance technical precision with a strong sense of place, creating streets that work better for people, businesses, and the wider community.
