What is a resolution?
The Local Government (Auckland Council) Act 2009 established Auckland Transport as the Road Controlling Authority for the Auckland transport system and provides it with authority to use the Roads sections of the Local Government Act 1974, and also the power to create bylaws. Auckland Transport's bylaws establish their authority to create resolutions to implement specific parking restrictions and transport controls in designated locations. Auckland Transport has delegated the power to make such resolutions to the Traffic Control Committee (TCC).
Once the report is tabled at the TCC meeting and passed by the committee, it becomes a "resolution". Together with the minutes of the TCC meeting, the resolution becomes the legal record of authority to install and place restrictions on the roading network.
